Hacking 101: Introduction to Ethical Hacking is a beginner-friendly workshop designed to provide foundational knowledge in cybersecurity and ethical hacking. Participants will explore the hacker mindset, understanding how security vulnerabilities arise and how they can be mitigated. The course covers fundamental security principles, helping attendees grasp the importance of proactive defense strategies.
Throughout the sessions, attendees will be introduced to industry-standard operating systems and tools used in penetration testing. Practical exercises will include using Nmap, a powerful network scanning tool, to map networks and identify security weaknesses. Participants will also work hands-on with John the Ripper, a widely used password-cracking tool, to understand how weak passwords can be exploited and why strong password policies are critical.
In addition to technical skills, the course highlights the ethical responsibilities of cybersecurity professionals and the crucial role ethical hackers play in strengthening security systems. The final discussion will focus on career opportunities in cybersecurity, providing insights into various paths in penetration testing, security analysis, and more.
